Nonprofit-Related Courses for Summer 2008

Summer term begins the week of June 23 and ends the week of August 15. The course schedule is subject to change. It was last updated 6/20/08.

"Fundamentals of Fundraising" a fully online (3 credit) course with Kevin Matheny. PA510 Sec 526, CRN 82864; PA 410 Sec W14, CRN 82844; and PA099 Sec W13, CRN 82843. This course provides the learner with the basic theories, principles, and techniques for fund development.

"Grantwriting" a face-to-face weekend intensive (3 credit) course with Michael Wells meeting 6:00 to 9pm on these three Fridays plus 9:00am to 5:00pm on these three Saturdays - June 27-28, July 18-19 and August 15-16. PA525 Sec MKW, CRN 81497; PA 410 Sec MKW, CRN 81482. This course enables students to understand the grant acquisition process and acquire the skill necessary to write successful grant applications to private and governmental sources.

"Living Service & Volunteer Leadership" a partially or fully* online (2 credit) course with Claudia Moorad. PA510 Sec VTM, CRN 83125; PA 410 Sec VTM, CRN 83124. This one-of-a-kind experience develops your voluntary & community building leadership skills in 2 class sessions (3 to 9pm on July 11 and August 8 - or fully online) which frame a coordinated field service experience of your choice. *NOTE: If you prefer, the classroom portion of the course may be done entirely online.

"Managing New, Small, and/or Grassroots Nonprofits" a fully online (3 credit) course with Linda Golaszewski. PA510 SecW18, CRN 82842; PA 410 Sec W17, CRN 82841; and PA099 Sec W16, CRN 82840. You have passion for your mission. But your knowledge of the ins and outs of running a nonprofit could use some fine tuning. Come learn, reflect, and act on how to develop and manage a small or new nonprofit. Whether your organization is still a dream or you're running a well-established but very grassroots group, this course will get you thinking about strengthening your effectiveness. If you are starting a nonprofit, this course is for you.
