"Grantwriting" a face-to-face weekend intensive (3 credit) course meeting 6:00 to 9pm on these three Fridays plus 9:00am to 5:00pm on these three Saturdays - June 26-27, July 17-18, and July 31- August 1 with Michael Wells. PA525 Sec 002, CRN 81303; PA 410 Sec 002, CRN 81282. ROOM: URBN 250. This course enables students to understand the grant acquisition process and acquire the skills necessary to write successful grant applications to private and governmental sources.

"Nongovernmental Organizations: Nonprofits on the World Stage" a face-to-face (3 credit) course with Alisha Lund-Chaix. PA523 CRN 83068. It is to meet 9am to 12:30pm Monday thru Thursdays July 27 thru August 6. ROOM: TBA. This is a survey course introducing students to Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs). Students will learn about the history and development of nongovernmental organizations and the roles they play on the world stage. NGOs have grown in number and size at exponential rates in the past three decades. Much of that growth has focused on relief and development, advocacy, humanitarian rights and democratization. This class will examine the causes of that growth and the significant role of NGOs in creating civil society. The course will also examine the roles of NGOs in fighting oppression, safeguarding the environment, building and training workforces and advocating major societal changes.
